Summer is all about cruises, backyard barbecues and blockbuster hits at the movie theater.
From “Barbie” to Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” to “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” there are plenty of reasons to head to your local movie theater this summer. But it’s not the box office and the popcorn line to be busy with the movie theater sound.
Hotels are getting in on the act and leaning on the latest trends from Tinseltown, from special packages and events to suites that can double as Barbie’s Dreamhouse. Come on, Barbie, let’s take a look at some of our favorite movie scenes.
Moxy Times Square – New York City
We love the Moxy Times Square location for being an affordable hotel located in the heart of Manhattan. Stylish, modern rooms and a lively public space attract guests to the Moxy brand, and Moxy Times Square is no exception. This summer, however, there’s another reason to visit (and enter) Moxy, as the hotel’s Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge will host a Pink Bunny Beach pop-up with life-saving pink chairs and beach balls to create plenty of party ops fit for Barbie, Ken and the rest of the gang.
Rates at the Moxy Times Square start at $228 or 58,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
Villa Igiea and Verdura Resort – Sicily
Although you may want to go to Sicily for the second season of the very popular “The White Lotus,” and the “Indiana Jones” movies that are being celebrated this summer at the Rocco Forte hotels on the island. Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte hotel is the only destination that has a beautiful Mediterranean beach, culinary and wellness, and accommodation. Villa Igiea, Rocco Forte Hotel is the sister of Verdura’s Palermo, which is also amazing with its panoramic views across a 19th century palazzo with landscaped gardens, views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and overall elegance. Both locations have “Indiana Jones”-themed events this summer.
Guests at Villa Igiea can follow in the “footsteps of Indiana Jones” by joining an archaeological tour through UNESCO-listed Cefalu and other historic sites such as the 4th century Doric temple in Segesta, and the pink and orange Stagnone di Marsala Nature Reserve at sunset.
Refuel is a restaurant in the Far East in honor of the actor Harrison Ford, who stayed at the hotel during the filming of the latest movie “Indiana Jones” – and enjoyed Manhattan at the end of each day. At the Verdura Resort, guests can go on an adventure tour of the filming location of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” in a twin-engine Leonardo A109 helicopter. The chopper will take you to Segesta Archaeological Park, Castellammare del Golfo, Zingaro Reserve, San Vito Lo Capo Tonnara and Stagnone di Marsala Nature Reserve.

W Montreal – Montreal
The W Montreal offers all the youthful fun you’d expect in this outdoor W brand at the intersection of downtown and Old Montreal. This summer, the hotel’s Live House Speakeasy Karaoke room invites guests to enjoy “Barbie Girl” instead of bright lights and fuchsia decor. Come to the soundtrack and be sure to settle into the rooms and suites with city views.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Dream Hotels recently joined the World of Hyatt, and Dream South Beach is getting into the Barbiecore scene. High Country Motor Lodge – Flagstaff, Arizona
If you’ve never partaken of the likes of Wes Anderson Reels and TikToks, fear not: There are plenty of opportunities to get your Anderson vibe on this summer at High Country Motor Lodge in Arizona.
Anderson’s latest film, “Asteroid City,” takes place in a fictional desert town that hosts a stargazing competition (and a few aliens). Flagstaff’s very own Meteor Crater and High Country Motor Lodge are the perfect destination for fans of Anderson’s movies, as this old Route 66 motel is poised for its latest $13 million hit. Take part in stargazing (the hotel has an in-house Stargazing guide) in a retro-inspired desert setting. We love Cosmic Cottages for their mid-20th century modern charm and mountain cabin charm.

Westin Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas – Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Greater Dallas will be buzzing this weekend at the Westin Irving Convention Center, which is hosting a Barbie Pool Party on Saturday with a DJ, themed games, pink pool floats, a matching competition and festive cocktails at the Vibe Pool Bar.
