Norwegian Cruise Line has announced major changes and improvements to Norwegian Joy as the ship sails through January and February 2024.
One of the biggest changes is the addition of a new spa and thermal suite, which the Breakaway cruise ship has lacked since its launch in 2017 when it was built for the Chinese market.
Some of the additions will include new rooms, including balcony spa rooms with access to the sauna and spa, and the expansion of the Vibe Beach Club, a popular and exclusive sun lounge with sunbeds and hot tubs.

A new Thermal Suite is being added
Some of Norway’s Breakaway-class ships have a spa and thermal suite at the front of the ship on deck 17, which is where Haven’s Horizon Lounge is located.
To create a thermal environment on the Norwegian Joy, the ship will use the space currently being used by the Galaxy Pavilion, the ship’s VR, games, and entertainment area. The 16 aft cabin offers passengers a central seating position and plenty of room to relax.

The thermal suite will be complete with tiled heating rooms, saunas, a snow room, steam rooms, aroma baths and decorative waterfalls for an extra touch of style.
There will be some new additions for Norwegian passengers, including a Biostation with IV Drip Therapy that provides injections of nutrients, injecting vital nutrients into the body.
In addition, a deep, stone-lined river provides guests with Kneipp haptic foot therapy as they walk through the hot and cold baths.
“Providing exceptional experiences for our entire fleet is what we strive to do,” said Norwegian Cruise Line President David J. Herrera. “We have listened to our guests and have taken action. With this renovation, we’re adding more favorite places and offerings to all of our ships to inspire guests aboard Norwegian Joy. Guests will have a variety of staterooms to choose from as well as world-class, full-service facilities for the most immersive sea experience. “
Vibe Beach Club Will Be Expanded

Vibe Beach Club is the only large sun deck on Norwegian Cruise Line ships with an additional fee and special privileges. The laser tag court on deck 20 will be removed to make way for the beach club. The resort will have a similar look to the Vibe Beach Clubs on Encore and Bliss, with lounges equipped with cool towels, water spritzers, and private cabanas.
New Cabinets Added
Part of the ship’s Observation Lounge will be used in 24 new balcony rooms, in addition to 40 new spa rooms that will be located next to the thermal suite for easy access to the Mandarin Spa.
The Haven by Norwegian Premier Owner’s Suites will be expanded to three bedrooms with three and a half bathrooms, a remodeled living room and a new separate dining room.
Drydock
Norwegian Joy’s drydock is scheduled to begin on January 22n.d until February 12Th or 2024, giving cruises three weeks to complete all the extensions.
