A man was shot and wounded outside a luxury hotel in Mission Bay early Monday, police said.
Police responded to a shooting at 12:01 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Channel St., which is the address of the luxury Luma Hotel. Police found a man with gunshot wounds, treated him and called paramedics who took him to hospital.
Police say no arrests have been made.
The victim was a 28-year-old Ohio man who arrived at the hotel, which houses a restaurant, bar and cafe, after a wedding reception with a relative and heard gunshots, according to the deputy chief of police investigations. The Luma Hotel said via email on Monday that no guests or staff have been affected by the incident and that the hotel is working with the police to ensure that the matter is resolved as soon as possible.
“The continued safety of our visitors and local residents is of utmost importance,” he said.
The hotel, which is located near the Police Department’s Southern Station, describes on its website that it is located in “San Francisco’s safest neighborhood” near Oracle Park and the Chase Center. Last week, the hotel topped TripAdvisor’s 2023 Hottest Hotels list as the country’s hottest new hotel.
ABC7 posted photos of broken windows at the hotel.
