Whether it’s a sustainable development or renovating an old home, San Antonio has a lot to offer in the way of luxury homes and amenities. Some projects began this year, while others are expected to open in 2023 and beyond.
Here’s everything that’s coming to San Antonio hotel and lodging services.
Josephine
These 261 apartments from affordable multifamily developer Lynd Co. will be near the Pearl at the corner of Josephine Street and Euclid Avenue. In January 2022, Lynd borrowed $53 million to begin work on the project, which will consist of approximately 130 units targeted at families making 60% to 80% of the median income. The rest will be borrowed at market value.
It won’t be without luxury, including a rooftop pool. It’s unclear when it will open, but Josephine’s website says “Coming Soon 2023.”

The park will have outdoor sleeping rooms next to the guest bungalows.

White Lodging originally had a different name planned for this renovation of the former Marriott Plaza Hotel near La Villita, but the hotel developer decided to change the name to Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa in its old location.
The 253-room luxury hotel will feature a recreational pool, bar, meeting rooms, spa, and a new restaurant and bar featuring “a variety of cuisines.” There will also be an oasis garden with a bar. It is expected to open in 2024.
Elmira Apartments
A development group affiliated with Pearl is in the process of building 263-unit apartments on the River Walk near Pearl at 1126 E. Elmira St., San Antonio, TX 78212. The apartments will include a restaurant, co-working space, coffee shop, and an elevated pool and patio area above the coffee shop.
Developers told Bexar County Commissioners in August 2022 during a tax abatement hearing that the project is expected to be completed by 2024.

California-based developer Harris Bay plans to build a 112-room hotel on a River Walk property it bought in April, its founder said Monday.

The Artista Hotel is a project from a California developer in Harris Bay, who we will see appear on this list again sometime. The 112-suite hotel is going to the corner of Travis and St. Mary streets near Travis’ house. Accor has been selected to manage the hotel, which will feature restaurants from Morgans Originals, which manages sushi restaurant Katsuya, Italian restaurant Fi’Lia, and Mexican restaurant Diez y Seis.
Recent records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showed that driver manufacturers will fall in July of this year and end in 2025.
Continental house
Weston Urban, the architect behind Frost Tower, has been leading the project since 2021. It will transform the historic Continental Hotel and Arana building into a 15-story, 255-room building at 332 W. Commerce St., San Antonio, TX 78207.
Work has begun and the project is scheduled to be completed in 2024, according to a filing with TDLR.
Koehler’s house
Weston Urban has several projects in the works in San Antonio. This includes plans to convert the former Koehler Building at 310 W Ashby Place, San Antonio, TX 78212, into a hotel and restaurant. The developer bought the building from the Alamo Colleges District for $2 million in February 2022. Unfortunately there hasn’t been much movement in the development since then.
300 Main
Weston Urban also appears. This time it is close to its San Antonio project to transform the 32-story structure at 305 Soledad St., San Antonio, TX 78207. The tower will have 354 multi-family, two-bedroom, state-of-the-art apartments. fitness center, and high-end rooms. Weston Urban broke ground on the project in April 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2024.
Aztec Hotel
If you’re familiar with the Aztec Stadium, then you know where this 77-room hotel with rooftop access will be built. Upstairs at the Aztec Theater at 104 N. St. Mary’s St., San Antonio, TX 78205. Developers on the project selected Marriott Tribute to operate the hotel in June 2022, which will include amenities such as an in-room salt sauna. Developers told The Heron in June 2022 that the Aztec hotel would open in late 2023.

Harris Bay will return to the list with this residential project that will transform the Tobin Hill and St. Mary’s line. A developer is planning a 1,000-unit building with 70,000 square-feet of retail space on West Josephine Street. The San Antonio City Council approved a zoning request for the project in February.
El Portal
A company called Blueprint Hospitality plans to develop a hotel at 145 Navarro St., San Antonio, TX 78205, called El Portal, the Express-News reported in February. The hotel in the former CPS Energy headquarters will have 243 rooms, a restaurant, and a bar. The hotel is expected to open in October 2024.

Dallas developer Quadrant Investment Properties announced in January 2022 plans for a luxury, 342-unit apartment building at 1220 E. Commerce St., San Antonio, TX 78205, near the Alamodome. Plans showed one- and two-bedroom apartments and a spectacular rooftop pool overlooking downtown San Antonio. The Historic Design and Review Commission approved the design in May 2022 but the timeline has been set.
Park in Westover Hills
Dallas-based GenCap Partners has broken ground on a 372-unit project called The Park at Westover Hills on the Westside, according to a news release. The park will have studios, one, two, and three bedrooms, a pool, a gym, meeting rooms, a coffee shop, and two dog parks.
It is expected to open by 2025.
