A South Carolina hotel is one of the best places in the country for tourists to stay, a new report has found.
The French Quarter Inn – located in a hot spot in Charleston – is ranked No. 1. 9 on the list of the most popular lodgings by tourists, according to the results published May 23 from the travel website Tripadvisor.
On Tripadvisor, several people who have stayed at the French Quarter Inn complained that the hotel gave them a feeling of being close to tourist attractions. Others were fans of the food and drinks, such as champagne upon arrival and cakes before bed, helping the place earn five out of five stars.

In addition to boasting one of the “highest” hotels in the country, South Carolina was home to several places that made their mark in the special category. This includes:
To determine the winners of the Best Travel Hotels Award, Tripadvisor said it studied the entries made by US hotel guests on its website in 2022, and analyzed “the data and the number of traveler reviews and ratings.”
“To be eligible for an award, a property, business, destination or attraction must have been listed on Tripadvisor for at least 12 months, must have received review scores within the award evaluation period, and must maintain or exceed at least a … rating on Tripadvisor, ” although some groups have additional methods, the website wrote.
Counting the top 25 in each category, Charleston had a total of six hotels. That means it had the most “unique winners” of any city in the country, according to statistics shared by McClatchy News via email.
The honor may not be surprising, as the website said Charleston “was named one of the most popular destinations in the US in 2023 in the previous competition of Tripadvisor, proving that travelers not only visit frequently, like, but also pay more on Tripadvisor. . In addition, Charleston hotels during most of them are at the chair of the Tripadvisor hotel, so they always provide the best service and hospitality to their guests.”
Overall, the top hotel in the country was the Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah, Georgia. Explaining the five most popular:
